Greetings!

February 20, 2012

Greetings!

To my fellow doll collectors, I have been wanting to blog for awhile but never got around to it.  Not to mention I felt constrained by certain forces.  No longer.  I hope to now set the record straight on several things, and as a former doll dealer, I can tell you that for current dealers there is little mark up and profit margin.  Please be kind to ALL doll dealers and try to support ALL of them with your dolly dollars. I hope to offer everyone a few tips and also some insight to what my life has been like the past 15 years.  Hopefully it will change your thinking by giving all of you another viewpoint to try and see things from, as it's hard for current dealers to say much.

For now, please feel free to check my website for remaining inventory.  We hope to have it cleared out this week.  Then in March, we hope to put up some hard to find, sought after dolls from my personal collection.  I just need to thin out a bit as I cannot take everything with me!

This has been quite a rollercoaster ride for me, but I do want to say that my decision to give up my doll business was motivated by several factors.  Please know that my health is good, my finances are fine and I bascially grew tired of the grind that has become small business retailing.  It is that "grind" I will touch on in the coming weeks and months.

  1. I'm so excited to follow your new blog! I feel like we've been able to share similar points of view about doll collecting. And you know that you have my full support as you leave the "grind" behind to enjoy more time with your family and maybe even get some time to play!

  2. Hello Mary!

I have a very good friend who was a doll dealer here in Atlanta. She gave up her retail business about 7 years ago. I believe very few people know what it is really like trying to stay afloat with a business in the doll community these days. She only does shows now and has moved on to greener pastures. She doesn't regret the change at all; she says she finds joy in the hobby again.

I wish you so much success in your future endeavors. I can't wait to follow your blog. I'll add you to my prayers for continued strength as you move forward in your life!
